Portfolio - Project 3

Portfolio - Project 3

Portfolio - Project 3

Instructions:

1 - Based upon the jobs you looked at and the requested skills of each, identify a piece you have previously created that you could improve to show you possess the skills being requested, or create a new project to show that you have the skills the employer is looking for.

2 - Create a blog post about this project: who is the audience, what is the message, and what are you hoping to accomplish with the piece, what design decisions did you make, and why did you make each one?

Each of the jobs I researched required experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Photoshop. We have done a couple of posters as assignments in the past.

I wanted to create a new project to show that I have the skills employers are looking for.

I looked through Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a book and decided to do Lesson 9 - Advanced Compositing.

The lesson files began with an image of a man and components of a Frankenstein monster, that you had to apply smart filters, liquify filter, color effects to create the monster.

"The curse of Frank & Stein" movie poster

In this lesson, I learned how to do the following:

Apply and edit smart filters.

Use the liquify filter to creatively distort an image.

Apply color effects to selected areas of an image.

Apply filters to create various effects.

Use the history panel to return to a previous state.

Upscale a low-resolution image while maintaining quality.

Once you had created the monster you have to blend it into a background image. You then apply and blend in a tombstone and an image of two people screaming.

The intended audience is fans of horror movies, and the message is to go see this movie.

The goal is to increase awareness of this new horror movie by creating this movie poster, which is a twist on the original Frankenstein movie (Frank & Stein).

This lesson taught me how to apply and edit smart filters, use the liquify filter to distort in image, apply color effects to selected areas of an image, upscale a low resolution image, and merge all of the images to blend in for the movie poster.

I will use this knowledge in future Photoshop projects.
